What NOT To Do With A Fresh Tattoo

So, you’ve finally gotten that amazing tattoo you’ve been dreaming of. Now comes the important part: taking care of it to ensure it heals beautifully. Proper aftercare is crucial in maintaining the vibrancy and longevity of your new tattoo. Here are some tips to help you through the healing process.

It takes about 2-3 weeks for a tattoo to fully heal. Listen to your tattoo artists instructions. It can vary depending on the tattoos location or personal experience.

No Soaking

  • Submerging your fresh tattoo in water, such as in baths, pools, or hot tubs, can introduce bacteria and increase the risk of infection.

Avoid the Sun

  • UV rays can cause fading and damage to the tattooed skin. Once your tattoo is fully healed, make sure to apply sunscreen.

Don’t Pick or Scratch

  • It’s important not to scratch or pick at the scabs, as this can cause scarring and pull color from your tattoo.

Stay Hydrated

  • Drinking plenty of water and consuming nutrient-rich foods can aid in the healing process of your tattoo.

Additional tips on what not to do:

  • Don’t use bar soaps when washing your tattoo, they hold on to bacteria
  • No sauna or tanning for at least 3 weeks
  • Wait 2-3 weeks before going to the gym
  • Avoid tight clothing
  • Do not use scented soaps and lotions
